10 Things NOT To Do In a Job Interview
We’re going to have a little fun this week. I’ve compiled a list of 10 things NEVER to do in a job interview (unless you DON’T want the job).
But this isn’t a list of the usual boring no-nos - like “not dressing appropriately” or “being rude” - this is a list of absurd real-life mistakes that will have you shaking your head in wonder… how dumb can people be?
But before we get to that, a quick announcement.
It’s official: you can now download my brand new ebook, Insider Job Secrets Revealed.
Now for the top 10 things NOT to do in a job interview (there are actually many, many things not to do, but here are the most ridiculous things I’m aware of people actually doing):
1. Asking who the company is that’s hiring (yes, someone interviewing for a job with my husband actually asked this).
2. Saying that you only want the job for the money (maybe… but don’t say this in the job interview!)
3. Revealing that you want the job to support you while you work on your own business.
4. Asking the interviewer if they’ll talk to your girlfriend. (I’m serious - a guy was applying for a job and actually asked if the interviewer would speak to his girlfriend instead of him during the telephone interview!)
5. Saying flat out that you DON’T have the skills to do the job (yes, this happened to a dear friend and subscriber).
6. Ending the interview by saying that you’ll give the company a call if you want the job (the same person who was interviewing for a job with my friend).
7. Telling the interviewer that they’re wrong about something and getting into an argument with them.
8. Complaining about the work involved in the job (if you think this is a way to justify asking for a higher salary… forget it. You won’t even get job offer).
9. Criticising the company you’re applying to work with.
10. Winking or making suggestive comments to the interviewer (H-e-l-l-o! This is a job interview not a bar!)
Reading this list, it’s pretty obvious how NOT to get a job.
But how obvious is it to GET a job?
Well, the most effective strategies and tactics are not all that obvious.
That’s why I wrote Insider Job Secrets Revealed - so I could unveil all the “secret” strategies that “Insiders” use to get the jobs they want.
If YOU’RE looking for a job, you need to know this information - it really will give you an edge over all the other job candidates.
