“How To Get Discovered”
You've probably heard about someone who got lucky... that guy or
girl who, whilst going about their normal life, was "discovered" by someone with an eye for talent.
The good-looking cashier who was discovered by a modeling agency.
The guy at the running track who was spotted by an Olympic coach.
The chef who was overheard singing by a music agent.
The schoolboy who was discovered by the movie producer.
And the list goes on.
Wouldn't it be terrific if someone discovered you? No need to do
anything - just be yourself and let them pluck you out of
obscurity into fame and fortune.
Yeah right.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the reality is that people who get "discovered" are one in a million. Maybe one in ten million. They are NOT the norm. Most successful people - in whatever field - had to WORK to get where they are. And chances are that most of the people who got "discovered" also had to work hard to make the most of the opportunities they were given.
So rather than "wait" for someone to discover you, I suggest you POSITION YOURSELF TO BE DISCOVERED.
while it may be possible - however remote - to be spotted by someone who recognizes your talent... in most cases no-one will
notice your talent unless YOU highlight it to them.
In other words, to get discovered you need to get in the talent
spotter's line of site.
Getting in someone's line of site will mean different things
to different people. But, in general, forget about leaving it to
chance and waiting for someone to discover you. Instead, be
proactive about getting what you want. You're much more likely
to get it.

“3 Tips For Building Rapport”
Here are 3 tips for building rapport with someone you don't know:
1. Talk about something you have in common.
Whether it's work, a hobby, a person you both know, or something
else, it's often relatively painless to start a conversation by
focusing on something you both have in common.
2. Take an interest in what the person is interested in.
If you're not sure whether you have anything in common - but you know the person has certain interests - ask them about these interests. If, for example, you notice pictures of children on their desk, ask about their kids. If you notice they are wearing exotic looking jewelry, ask where they got it. Of course, be respectful rather than nosy!
3. Ask them about themselves.
Most people will appreciate you taking an interest in them and their lives. So if you're not sure where to start, ask them a simple question like what do they do for a job, where did they grow up, how did they meet so-and-so, and so on. Even though these may be "stock standard" questions, they are also easy conversation starters that can help build rapport.
