“Why Business Is Just a... Bucket Of Contracts?”
This may sound like a strange thing to say.
In fact, much to the chagrin of the local media industry, it was
said by a lawyer-turned-executive director of one of the three
major television networks here in Australia.
As a lawyer myself, I find the comment somewhat amusing... but
very perceptive (even if it wasn't intended that way).
It may seem rather cold to view business as a bucket of
contracts, but when you think about it, business - in fact, life
in general - really is a huge collection of contracts, or, if you
prefer AGREEMENTS.
Every single relationship is based on one single premise:
"I'll do this... if you do that."
The vast majority of agreements in business (and life) are NOT
written down or in legalistic form though. They are often verbal
or implied, and far from binding.
Yet they are essential to facilitate everyone's various goals
- both large and small.
When you see business (and life) in this light, you can also
see that in many, if not most, cases getting what YOU want is
a matter of helping someone else get what THEY want.
So this week's tip is... acknowledge that all your business (and
personal) relationships are based on some kind of contract or
agreement.
That being the case, if you DON'T seem to be getting what you
want from the relationship... ask yourself:
-- Is the other person not fulfilling their end of the bargain?
-- Are the "terms" fair?
-- Is it time to "renegotiate"?
OR
-- Should you stop "transacting" with this person?

“How To Publish Your Own Successful Email Newsletter”
I was going to write a report on how to publish a successful email newsletter.
After all, I've been publishing Success Accelerator for about a year and a half now, and prior to that, I wrote 3 weekly newsletters for my previous Internet business. So I reckon I've learned a thing or two.
But Kevin Riley has beaten me to the punch!
Kevin, who's a good friend of mine, has just produced a report" Recipe For Delivering Your Own Popular Newsletter" which pretty much covers everything you need to know about publishing email newsletters, autoresponder series, and promotional emails.
So I'm not going to re-invent the wheel... get Kevin's report instead:

“The Pursuit of Happyness”
Yes, that's happyness with a "y". (You'll understand why
- forgive the pun - when you see the film.)
Inspired by a TRUE STORY, The Pursuit of Happyness stars Will
Smith as Chris Gardner, a man whose luck seems to have run out
when his business fails... his girlfriend leaves him... and he
and his 5 year old son are evicted from their apartment.
Struggling with homelessness and caring for himself and his son,
Gardner attempts to obtain a stockbroking internship. However,
much to his despair, he finds that the internship is not only
unpaid, but only 1 out of the 20 interns will end up with a
full-time, paid job.
The film tracks Gardner's struggle and, as a refreshing change
from many Hollywood films, pulls no punches when it comes to
conveying just how tough Gardner's journey is.
In fact, at one point during this film, my husband told me that
he couldn't continue watching as it was too upsetting.
Since I knew there was a "happy ending" I encouraged him to keep
watching, which he did. However, he still had misgivings
afterward.
I can understand why.
Put simply, this film can be difficult to watch. Unlike some
books and films that skirt over the pain of poverty and homelessness, this film does a good job of conveying that pain.
However, the film is also uplifting. Chris Gardner "wins" in the
end and, in true life, went on to become a multi-millionaire.
Chris Gardner's triumph over adversity is truly a testament to
the human spirit and the importance of PERSISTENCE.
When you see just how awful and hopeless life can be without
money, without a home, and without friends and family to help...
and then how someone can rise up in spite of it all... you can
appreciate the power of persistence.
As Winston Churchill said:
Never give up.
Never give up.
Never give up.
See this film and be inspired.
