“How Assertive Are We? (These results may shock you)”

Okay, I've compiled several hundred responses from the "Assertiveness Quiz" I launched a few weeks ago.

So how many people who have participated in this quiz do you think are assertive?

Well, you may be surprised to learn that, based on the quiz:

32 percent are assertive;

27 percent are assertive in some but not most aspects of their business and career;

24 percent are showing some signs of assertiveness but need to stand up for themselves a little more; and

17 percent are not particularly assertive.

So, what are we to take from this survey?

Well, if you agree with my formulation of what, and what does not, amount to assertiveness... and if you agree that assertiveness is necessary for success in life... then most of us (68 percent) would do well to focus on this area of our lives.

By doing so, we may have a much easier time achieving our goals.

That said, assertiveness is by no means the only, or even the most important, condition for success. In fact, its level of importance will likely differ from person to person, based on everyone's individual circumstances.

Even if you don't entirely agree with the assumptions behind the quiz, I hope it got you thinking and reflecting. A little reflection can often help us work out whether we're on the right track or not.
