“Don't Let GUILT Hold You Back”
When I think of what holds back perfectly capable people from achieving their goals, two negative emotions come to mind: fear and guilt.
We often hear about fear - e.g. fear of failure, fear of success, etc - but what about guilt?
An irrational feeling of guilt can be a major reason why relatively fortunate people fail to reach their potential.
Often, such people feel "bad" about wanting more, when they already have achieved certain things or already possess certain advantages.
This lies at the heart of why many people in "good jobs" decide to keep on doing something they hate because... "they should be grateful" or "other people would die for this job" and so on.
And it's often part of - or the major - cause of why very talented artists, actors, musicians, sports people, etc - end up self-sabotaging their own success. They feel guilty about having had it "easy" and, at some level, decide not to do the work or training necessary to achieve ongoing greatness.
And it's also why many of us never pursue our dreams.
After all, when society constantly reminds us of how lucky we are and how grateful we should be... isn't it just plain greedy to want more, when so many others have less?
No, it's not.
Yes, we should acknowledge our good fortune and be grateful for what we have. But it's not being greedy to want more. It's greedy to want more without being willing to give just as much back to others.
I liken being born on this planet to being randomly dropped on the side of a mountain where the goal is to reach the top.
None of us decide where we start out on the mountain. Some of us are lucky enough to be dropped near the peak, while some of us have the misfortunate of landing at the bottom. Others begin part-way up the mountain.
If you are lucky enough to land near the peak of the mountain... does that mean you shouldn't continue to the top? Does that mean you should just stay where you are, while others may or may not pass you by? Or even worse, that you should go down the mountain in order to "share the pain"?
In fact, if you genuinely want to help others, shouldn't you get to the top of the mountain as soon as possible so you can see which is the best (quickest, least dangerous) path up the mountain, and then have the ability to guide others to get to the top?
Just because you have been blessed with certain opportunities or talents doesn't mean you don't deserve them or should feel guilty about having them. Accept what you have, and know that by
achieving more, you will actually have the best chance of
helping those who have not had the same good fortune as you.

“How To Recession Proof Your Wealth”
Building wealth is all about acquiring assets (e.g. property, stocks, etc) that have the capacity to yield passive income
and/or appreciate in value over time.
In simple terms, an asset increases in value when general demand
for that asset increases (whilst supply remains the same) and/or
when, as the asset owner, you build more value into that asset
(increasing demand for it).
During a recession, demand for various assets often falls away,
causing the value of those assets to decline.
As a result, some of the options you have to "recession proof" your wealth are to:
1. Build greater value into the assets you have (e.g. make low-cost improvements to an investment property).
2. Invest in assets that are holding their value or continuing to deliver sufficient returns (e.g. certain currencies).
3. Look for bargains - assets that will still deliver good returns based on buying them for less than their market value (e.g. foreclosure homes).

“People Who Can Fly (Really!)”
"Wingsuit flying" is the latest extreme sport involving people simulating the experience of flying.
Basically, wingsuits are specially designed jumpsuits that shape
a person's body into an airfoil, creating lift.
By jumping off points at high altitude (e.g. cliffs, tall
buildings, airplanes, etc) the wingsuit enables the flier to
glide through the air. A parachute is worn to enable them to land
without injury.
Like skydiving and base jumping, wingsuit flying can be extremely dangerous.
But not necessarily "crazy".
As wingsuit flier Jeb Corliss said in an interview on the Australian television program 60 minutes:
"Well, you wanna know what I think is crazy? I think waking up at
6:00am, eating breakfast and getting in a car and sitting in
traffic for 1.5 hours on your way to a job where you then sit in
a box for eight hours, get a 30 minute break to eat some lunch,
get back in that car and sit in traffic for another 1.5 hours on
your way home where you eat dinner and watch the TV, then go to
sleep. Repeat that until you're about 60, you retire, and then
you die! I think that is absolutely insane!"
