“Are We Part of The Solution...
...Or Part Of The Problem?”

The other day I was chatting with one of the most 'together', at-peace people I know.

Our conversation veered in all kinds of directions but at one point we discussed how, for all the money and attention poured into such matters as the environment, hunger in third world countries, research into diseases such as cancer, health issues such as obesity... many of these problems are getting WORSE, not better.

My friend suggested this paradox was due to so many of us focusing on the wrong things. We tend to focus on how to fix the external world, but not on how to fix ourselves... when, in fact, the external world is really just a reflection - indeed a creation - of US.

Then my friend said something that was deceptively simplistic. It's deceptively so, because when you really think about it, this question - and your ANSWER - is really quite profound.

She said that at some point we've all got to ask ourselves:

"Am I part of the solution... or part of the problem?"

Because here's the thing - if we are going about our lives feeling anxious, worried and stressed all the time...

...if we are not feeding ourselves nutritious foods

...if we are not moving our bodies enough

...if we are not getting enough sleep

...if we are not spending much time enjoying the company of friends and family

...if we are rarely spending any time 'in the moment' and just appreciating being alive

...if we are constantly reacting to the world and marching to someone else's drum instead of creating our world and marching to our own drum

...we are part of the problem.

Far from helping to reshape the world into the place we want to live – and we want our children and loved ones to live – we are perpetuating the way it is now.

I truly wonder... if enough of us made a major effort to start living life how we want to live it - in both big and small ways - would we actually make a much bigger, more positive difference to the world, than by simply spending time and money on trying to fix other problems and other people?

“How To Start Your Own Online Business
(With Almost NO Expense)”

If you could start your own online business, in just a week or two, with almost no expense to get started...

Would you do it?

If you said yes, I've got some good news for you...

Yes, you really can get your own Internet business started in just a few weeks. It's a lot simpler than you might think.

But I'm not talking about shady 'get rich quick' schemes or questionable biz-opps or low-paying 'work at home' plans.

And I'm not talking about selling other people's products through drop-shipping or affiliate programs.

“How To De-Stress By Breathing”

A few weeks ago Australia went off daylight savings time and many countries in the Northern Hemisphere went onto daylight savings time.

But have you ever wondered who invented daylight savings time and why?

I hit Wikipedia.org for the answer and came up with some interesting information.

It seems that daylight savings time - which involves putting the clock forward during spring and summer time so there's more daylight in the afternoon/evening and less daylight in the morning - was invented in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson, a New Zealand entomologist.

Independently, a British builder named William Willett also conceived the idea for daylight savings time in 1905.

Both men seemed attracted to the idea of giving people more leisure time in evenings after work. Another goal was apparently to reduce the need for incandescent lighting during evenings, which was a primary use of electricity in those days.

Daylight savings time has its fans and critics, and there are countries and states, including one state of Australia - Queensland - which do not adopt daylight savings time.

“How Insiders Get The Jobs They Want...
...And You Can Too!”

Studies show that 50% of all new jobs go to "Insiders"...

Not just existing employees, but people who BECOME insiders by taking a somewhat different - yet much more effective - approach to getting the job they want.

Despite this, most books, career counselors and recruiters keep telling us to apply for a job using the conventional, "Outsider" approach!

Fine... if you want to join the long queue of people waiting to get in the "front door."

But if you want to slip in the "side door"... and not settle for any old job... but land the job you REALLY want, here's how:

“Who Invented Daylight Savings and Why?”

Even though we're into the second month of autumn here in Melbourne, the warm, balmy weather is lingering... which makes it all the harder for me to accept that winter is on the way!

Yep, I'm a warm weather gal. And yet, when I compare Melbourne's winters to those in various other places - particularly places in Europe and Northern America – Melbourne's average winter temperatures – in the range of 6 to 15 degrees celsius (43 to 59 degrees fahrenheit) according to Wikipedia - is downright tropical!

Which led me to do some fun research into which places on the planet have best climate.

Oh, and while I promise not to say this too often, a preference for a certain kind of climate is another of those subjective things.

Anyway an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says that, when it comes to warm, stable weather year-round, the top 5 places are:

1. Atlixco, Mexico

2. The Canary Islands

3. Costa Rica

4. Faulconbridge, Australia

5. Redwood City, California
